Our new friends from Scotland came to visit Cardiff and learnt all about UCAN Productions. We had a fantastic couple of days visiting Wales Millennium Centre, Chapter Arts Centre, as well as having great fun at UCAN drama workshops. Hope to be working with our new friends from Scotland again in the very near future.
We are delighted to announce that we have secured funding from The Arts Council of Wales to create a project called the Art of Kindness. This exciting new project will examine the relationship between, acts of kindness and acts that cause pain. This is a partnership project with the Community Trade Union and the National League of the Blind and Disabled. Performances planned for early September.
February was a very busy month for the UCAN team; we ran drama and confidence building workshops in Barry, Milford Haven. Pembroke, Bangor and Wrexham. These workshops were delivered as part of the Big Lottery funded project Future Insight, a partnership project with RNIB Cymru, Vision Support, and Guide Dogs, which delivers a range of support services for visually impaired young people across Wales. We had a fantastic month made lots of new friends and had a lot of fun.
Some of the UCAN team travelled to Glasgow to meet with members of the NLBD, National League of the Blind and Disabled at the wonderful Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries factory. It was a fantastic opportunity to see how people with disabilities enjoy a range of employment. Looking forward to further collaborations.
